Safety Information
Okay symbol

If, for any reason, roleplaying gets too intense, and you want to check in with someone without breaking character, use the one-handed okay symbol against your chest.

If the player returns this hand signal, you've got a green light to carry on at the current intensity.

An open palm response should be taken as a signal to reduce the intensity of the current scene and step back.

Receiving no response is not an excuse to continue. If the player does not respond to your check-in, stop the scene and check in verbally.
Non-combat
If you do not wish to be struck for out of character reasons, you may opt to play a non-combat (or 'non-com') character for the duration of the game. Once you declare yourself as non-com, you must remain as non-com for the remainder of the event, unless you confirm otherwise with a head ref.
Should you be in a scenario where you're about to be struck by a player or monster, you can raise both hands in the air and declare "Non-com!". At this point, you should either drop to the floor, or move out of the way of combat. Your character is now on 0HP on the chest, and is bleeding out.
