Purposes
"The Galant is sworn to valour.
Their heart knows only virtue.
Their blade defends the helpless.
Their might upholds the weak.
Their words speak only truth.
Their wrath undoes the wicked!"

In the old ages, purposes were a thing that drove, defined and gave the noble their renown. In the modern age, with the dead shaking the earth from their limbs to join the war between Fey and Humanity, this has never been truer.
Purposes now are part of the magic that holds the worthy together and alive. They represent core morals, memories, or relationships. The most driven of spirits have pulled themselves back into their old bodies, Merlin's magic returning the flesh and sinew to their old bones.
From a gameplay perspective, each Worthy starts the game with 3 Purposes that define significant parts of their personality and memory.
For example:
-
I defend the weak (Moral)
-
I remember my parents telling me to keep fighting (Memory)
-
I will protect my ward (Relationship)
While not necessarily something that each worthy will bring up in every conversation, Purposes should represent something that either formatively shaped them, or continues to drive them to act, that would irrevocably change them should they sacrifice it to stay on their feet.
Once a Purpose is given up, the player will lose it, and may find their drive and personality altered as a result. This may be roleplayed as a growing apathy, dissociation, or complete memory loss towards the sacrificed purpose, but the character's reaction is ultimately up to the player.
